Precious Metal Clay / Art Clay Silver
PMC (Precious Metal Clay) and ACS (Art Clay Silver) are very similar products, with slight differences in the way you can work with them; it's a personal choice as to which one you prefer.
They can both be bought in lump clay, paster, syringe or sheet forms and are exciting modern craft materials, comprised of microscopic particles of silver mixed with small amounts of an organic binder and water.
When dried and then heated to between 650°C and 900°C the binder burns away and the water evaporates; the result is 99.9% pure silver, which can easily be hallmarked.
These amazing, almost magical, materials are non-toxic and easy to use; they can be rolled, piped, shaped, carved and cut much like regular clay, allowing the creation of lovely, original pieces in a fraction of the time and effort required by traditional methods.
Not only this, but they can both be used in mixed media projects really easily; for example combining glasswork, gems & precious stones, porcelain or other ceramics or even other metals such as gold or bronze. The only limit is your imagination!
