Hello, I'm Carol Douglas Ma. Ed, International Silverware & Jewellery Designer and Teacher. In addition to pieces for sale, I also offer a variety of exciting and interesting workshops and lessons!

I have won British Silver Week awards at the Goldsmiths Hall in 2009 and the Pangolin Gallery in 2010.
My work has been exhibited at Hamilton and Inches, Edinburgh, Payne and Sons, Oxford and for the Birmingham Assay Office at St Pauls Gallery, Birmingham in 2010 and will be exhibiting as part of a collaboration of metal clay artists at the IJL Exhibition at Earls Court September 2010. I've also taken part in two major exhibitions at Southampton City Art Gallery ‘Ancient Landscapes’ in 2008 and ‘The Truth About Faeries’ (collaborating with Wendy Froud) in 2009. My 2008 entry at the 2008 IJL Earls Court Exhibition was awarded a prize by the PMC Studio.
I've also featured in The Truth About Faeries Book by Anne Anderson & Graham Ovenden, as well as other publications and catalogues connected with exhibitions as well as magazines such as The Goldsmith and Muse.
Although my primary joy is working with silver clay, I also create pieces in mixed media, including bronze, copper, steel, gold, glass clays, porcelain & other ceramic clays faux bone and glass lamp work.
My inspiration is the wildlife, vegetation and shores of the New Forest where I have my home. The unique Silver Shadows pieces are born in the macabre sensuality of myth, dark legend and mystical magical creatures and places.
I firmly believe that silver is the most elegant of metals, and love exploring its versatility and beauty. My hope is to carry on gaining knowledge and experience in creating silver designs in both jewellery and silverware, especially focusing upon marrying traditional skills with this comparatively new form of silver.
